Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP)

Knapton Consulting Engineers have acted as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) on many projects in addition to providing Project Management and other Engineering Services. We have well established procedures in place to ensure the role of PSDP is carried out efficiently and in full accordance with Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006.

As Project Supervisor Design Phase (PSDP), Knapton Consulting Engineers would take account of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 and fulfil those duties as specified hereunder:

  • Early review and assessment of health & safety issues, identification of hazards arising from the design or from the technical, organisational, planning or time related aspects of the project and where possible, eliminate the hazards or reduce the risk
  • Active tracking of health & safety issues throughout each stage of design and communicate necessary control measure, design assumptions or remaining risks to the Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) so they can be dealt with in the Safety and Health Plan
  • Ensure that the work of designers is coordinated to ensure safety
  • Prepare a written safety and health plan for any project where construction will take more than 500 person days or 30 working days or there is a Particular Risk and deliver it to the client prior to tender.
  •  Assisting the client in assessing the competency and sufficiency of resources of Contractors to act both as Project Supervisor (Construction) Stage and as Contractors if requested.
  • Attending site and site meetings during the construction phase, as required, fulfilling the duties of PSDP under the Regulations.
  • Development of a dedicated access and maintenance strategy
  • Ensuring co-ordination of temporary works design
  • Prepare a safety file for the completed structure and give it to the client
  • Notify the Authority and client of non-compliance with any written directions issued
